Walterpurgisnacht is a playlist of "Greatest Dicks": 17 remastered Snakedick songs and 2 book on VHS songs spanning 6 EPs, 2 albums, and 1 single released between August 2021 and January 2022, while serving as the definitive introduction to Dickie Snakedick.

The compilation's name is in reference to both Walpurgisnacht--German for (Saint) Walpurgis night--a holiday and festival held on April 30th, as well as Dickie's real name. The number of songs (19) on this release refers to both the number of Aleister Crowley/Anton LaVey's version of the Enochain Keys or Calls as well as COVID-19.

Walpurgisnacht is known in several European countries, originally as a night to pay tribute to the 8th century Abbess Walpurga who was praised by Christians as successfully warding off pests, illness and witchcraft. Over the years, the celebration has been influenced by pagan practices, local folklore, myths and legends.

The festival is often called “the second Halloween” by Neo-Pagans for bearing a number of similarities to the observance of Samhain (Halloween) when bonfires are lighted, people gather for parties, and children go trick-or-treating. Walterpurgisnacht is also recognized by the Church of Satan as the most important Satanic holiday next to one's birthday.

The Thing is one of my favorite movies, so when I saw the title and album art, I knew this immediately needed to join my collection. It certainly didn't disappoint. This album perfectly captures the mood of the film (and likely the book as well, which is still on my to-read list), and the last track especially captures the horrific nature of the transformations.
